About The Position

As Associate Director of Antibody Discovery Programs, you will play a key role in shaping and leading strategies for our antibody discovery initiatives. This position entails driving the discovery of novel antibody-based therapeutics, including monoclonal and bispecific antibodies. You will be accountable for scientific oversight of dozens of therapeutic discovery programs every year by working collaboratively with a range of large pharma companies, emerging biotech companies and academic collaborators. A crucial aspect of this role involves contributing a deep understanding of drug discovery projects to drive effective project strategies in collaboration with our partners. Strong communication skills are essential for this role, as you will interact with a diverse group of stakeholders both within and outside the company. You will also be accountable for high quality partner communication throughout the project life cycles, including drafting research proposals, updating project status and timelines, and presenting final deliveries. This role will report directly to the Vice President of Antibody Powered Division in Athens, GA, with autonomy owning various stakeholders, projects, and tasks in a dynamic start-up environment while keeping up the pace of Alloy.

Requirements

• PhD in a relevant scientific field (e.g. Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biology) with a minimum of 6 years of industry experience in early drug discovery and development, or a master’s degree with 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Broad and deep experience with antibody discovery and engineering.
• Strong background in the design and optimization of antibody-based therapeutics.
• Proven track record of successful execution and delivery of projects within scope, budget, and timeline.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
• Excellent people skills and thrive in a team environment, with the ability to motivate and mentor team members.
• Ability to work across various US and international time zones.
• Able to accommodate occasional travel as needed (10%).
• Able to work on-site in Athens, GA

Responsibilities

• Drive: Scientific direction and execution of monoclonal and bispecific discovery projects.
• Innovate: Ensure the application of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies in antibody discovery projects.
• Collaborate: Integrate protein engineering and cutting-edge efforts efficiently into product offerings and engage with external collaborators in discovery of biologics.
• Deliver: Efficient execution of partner projects balancing quality, timelines, and costs, while ensuring successful completion of therapeutic discovery that meet our partners’ objectives.
• Lead: Marshall, inspire, and mentor a cross-functional team of scientists. Lead by example by going the extra mile to ensure we are successful delivering on projects.
• Communicate: Communicate effectively with key stakeholders externally and internally, fostering productive interactions both upward and downward, and across teams at different sites.
• Accountable for scientific success of antibody discovery and engineering campaigns.
• Drive major decisions, balance tradeoffs and resolve technical issues with a campaign.
• Coordinate execution and partner relationship with alliance management and project management.
• Lead process improvement initiatives across ADS functional areas.
• Bring innovative scientific and technological solutions to increase business competitiveness.
