About The Position

The Associate supports Scotiabank’s Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) Business Management team within Global Banking & Markets. The team advances strategy, financial management, performance monitoring, and execution oversight of strategic initiatives across Corporate Banking and Investment Banking. Working with business management colleagues and partners across the organization, the Associate helps drive business performance and growth while aligning plans and initiatives with CIB and Bank-wide priorities. The role contributes to the planning, execution, measurement, and communication of business objectives, strategic initiatives, and financial goals. It supports business strategy and planning, budgeting and forecasting, performance analysis and reporting, investment prioritization, executive and governance materials, stakeholder coordination, culture and talent initiatives, and risk and control practices.

Requirements

Deep knowledge of Corporate and Investment Banking businesses; ideally, experience in or supporting these businesses.
Knowledge of product strategy.
Financial analysis and planning skills.
Strong culture, risk, and controls mindset.
Proactive approach and ability to lead collaboratively.
Strong communication skills, including the ability to distill key themes from large amounts of information.
Ability to prioritize competing deliverables.
Aptitude and interest in developing strong stakeholder relationships across groups.
Strong MS Office skills, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
Strong understanding of AI.

Responsibilities

Support Sector Heads, Product Heads, and senior leadership in developing and tracking business strategy.
Translate strategic priorities into actionable plans, measurable outcomes, and executable roadmaps.
Identify market trends, competitive developments, and emerging opportunities to inform growth and strategic decisions.
Support the weekly pipeline process and monthly reporting.
Support annual budgeting, forecasting, headcount management and planning, and financial planning processes.
Monitor business performance against financial and strategic objectives, identifying key drivers, opportunities, and risks.
Analyze business metrics and performance trends to support management decisions.
Partner with Finance to improve forecasting methodologies, management reporting, and business analytics.
Deliver business commentary and insights to senior management.
Track delivery of key business growth priorities.
Collaborate with Sector and Product teams, control functions, and the COO organization to help prioritize investments in support of strategic objectives.
Advise business leaders by identifying emerging themes, risks, and opportunities.
Prepare and develop materials for Town Halls, Operating Committees, Executive Committees, Board presentations, and regulatory forums.
Develop clear narratives communicating business performance, strategic priorities, and key risks.
Ensure reporting is accurate, insightful, and aligned with executive- and Board-level expectations.
Build partnerships across GBM businesses, Finance, COO, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and other support functions.
Influence stakeholders and drive alignment across competing priorities and initiatives.
Represent business interests in strategic, operational, and governance discussions.
Champion a high-performance and inclusive culture consistent with Scotiabank’s values.
