About The Position

We are looking for an Associate CNC Lathe/VTL Machinist to join our team. The Associate CNC Lathe/VTL Machinist will perform a variety of finish machining practices involved with turning, boring, drilling and threading while maintaining close tolerances on a wide variety of components from various industries. The ideal candidate needs to be familiar with Fanuc Controls. The candidate must be knowledgeable at reading and interpreting drawings, work instructions, reading and understanding programs, all to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements. Must have basic hand & measuring tools, indicators, etc.

Requirements

  • Familiar with Fanuc Controls.
  • Knowledgeable at reading and interpreting drawings, work instructions, reading and understanding programs.
  • Must have basic hand & measuring tools, indicators, etc.
  • 2 or more years of experience in a safety sensitive environment.
  • Ethical Conduct.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and organizational skills.
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that may arise.
  • Capable of reading drawing and proper use of calibrated measuring tools.
  • Read drawings and use of micrometers.
  • Basic machining knowledge and practices required.
  • Must possess and provide basic tools required for the execution of the position of machinist.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety directives and programs established by the Company and or our customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ability and willingness to be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing for significant portions of the shift.
  • Ability to operate small lifts, pallet jacks and other lifting equipment (training will be provided on our specific equipment).
  • Advanced oral and written communication.
  • Advanced math skills to calculate tolerances and dimensions.
  • Ability to read and understand Blueprints and G-Code.
  • Familiar with basic machining practices involved in turning, milling, drilling, threading operations.
  • Must be competent reading drawings and following instructions necessary to produce usable and saleable parts.
  • Must be proficient with the use of, the care of, and the calibration of all types of measuring devices (i.e., micrometers (OD and ID), dial calipers, dial indicators, etc.).
  • Must possess and provide basic tools required for the execution of the position of machinist.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety directives and programs established by the Company and or our customers.
  • Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs., walk, climb, reach, kneel, crawl, and balance.
  • Must be able to use hands for assembly and tool usage.
  • While performing the duties of this position the employee will be required to stand, sit, bend and walk for significant portions of the shift.
  • Must not have allergies or issues related to handling metals including aluminum, copper, bronze, and steel.
  • This position can be required to participate in the company random or customer specific drug and alcohol screening and background check.
  • Able to understand, read, write, and speak English.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug, alcohol screening and background check.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • RMS Inc. may have government contracts that impose specific requirements on employees on those projects. If an employee does not meet these requirements, they may be reassigned to a different location or be ineligible to work on certain assignments.
