About The Position

The Associate Chaplain provides religious and spiritual care and counsel to patients, families, associates, and others experiencing emotional or spiritual distress, with attention to diverse spiritual orientations and cultures. The role assesses, provides, and documents pastoral care for patients, families, and staff; offers prayer and blessings to the local ministry and community; and consults with patients, families, and medical staff on ethical decision-making and values, making appropriate referrals when needed. The Associate Chaplain also assists with planning, organizing, evaluating, and implementing the spiritual program for each local ministry to support successful execution of spirituality initiatives. The position is based at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, in Pastoral Spiritual Care, with a day-shift PRN schedule.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree required.
One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by the ACPE required.
No licensure or certification is required.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Human Behavior, or a related field preferred.
Two units of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by the ACPE preferred.
