About The Position

Temple University's Small Business Development Center is searching for an Associate Business Consultant. This role is responsible for providing consulting and technical assistance to small businesses and entrepreneurs in Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties. The Consultant will primarily focus on initial client assessments and consulting with micro-businesses, educating them on strategies for development and growth. A strong understanding of the strategic and operational challenges faced by small businesses is essential. The role involves managing a portfolio of micro-business clients, including follow-up and documentation. The SBDC Business Consultant works under the technical and administrative supervision of the Associate Director of the Small Business Development Center. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field
  • At least two (2) years of related experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Entrepreneurship, small business management and operations, marketing, market research, and human resource management skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and listening skills, and the ability to meet challenging clientele requests
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient digital technology skills and ability to use the CRM to enter data and generate reports
  • Ability to travel to locations that may not be accessible to public transportation
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Business Management, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
  • Small business ownership/experience

Responsibilities

  • Providing consulting and technical assistance to small businesses and entrepreneurs in Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties.
