About The Position

This role is for an Associate, Banker in the Industry/Country Coverage team within Global Banking & Markets at Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York, New York. The position involves structuring, analyzing, and executing transactions for companies in the natural resources sector. Key responsibilities include reviewing financial models (M&A, DCF, LBO valuations), analyzing financial statements and filings, guiding junior professionals, and interacting daily with senior management to execute projects and provide advice. The role also requires managing live deal execution, including due diligence, negotiation of legal documents, organizing roadshows, and liaising with other internal and external parties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role.
  • Two (2) years of experience building and reviewing financial models in excel or related spreadsheet tools including operating models, M&A and LBO valuations and models that incorporate corporate finance concepts, risk/return dynamics and GAAP and non-GAAP (for foreign equivalent) principles for companies.
  • Two (2) years of experience managing and coordinating multiple work streams with senior bankers and various product experts across the division.
  • Two (2) years of experience executing M&A transactions involving deal origination, information memorandum preparation, strategic and financial partner approach strategies, valuation and combination analyses, transaction negotiation and fairness opinions and Board presentations.
  • Two (2) years of experience developing complex presentations and presenting to senior executives such as the CEO and CFO of clients on M&A, corporate strategy and financing alternatives.
  • Two (2) years of experience managing multiple live work streams, coordinate with clients, external counsels, co-advisors and senior deal team members to ensure smooth execution of deals.

Responsibilities

  • Structures, analyzes and executes transactions on behalf of companies in the natural resources sector.
  • Reviews proprietary financial models, such as M&A, DCF, and LBO valuations in the natural resources sector.
  • Helps senior team evaluate models to develop key judgments.
  • Analyzes accounting and regulatory statements, debt and equity filings and documents, financial projections and models as prepared in various formats by clients.
  • Supervises, guides and coordinates junior professionals’ work product, including reviewing financial modeling work and presentations prepared for transactions, corporate board meetings, investment banking pitches and client service projects on corporate finance topics.
  • Supervises and reviews memoranda required to gain internal approvals from typical investment banking committees.
  • Interacts with senior management on a daily basis to execute projects, provide updates and advice and prepare presentation materials.
  • Manages live deal execution in the natural resources sector, including running due diligence processes, negotiating non-disclosure agreements and other legal documents with lawyers and potential buyers, organizing and attending deal and non-deal roadshows and liaising other investment banks and other parties within the Investment Banking division.
