About The Position

The McIlveen Family Law Firm is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with 3+ years of experience and exceptional trial, negotiation, research, and communication skills. The attorney will be responsible for establishing client relationships, understanding their legal needs, providing counsel, explaining legal options, and representing them in court and negotiations. This role also involves conducting research, preparing legal documents, and ensuring clients receive cost-effective legal solutions. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable, attentive, proactive, and possess excellent communication, negotiation, public speaking, and problem-solving abilities.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience
  • Licensed in NC
  • Graduation from an accredited law school
  • Excellent academic record
  • First chair trial experience
  • Family law experience

Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on ongoing litigation or explain legal issues they may be facing or are concerned about.
  • Research the details and evidence in cases, such as police reports, DSS reports, or pleadings previously filed, as well as applicable law.
  • Interpret case law and decisions of other applicable courts.
  • Develop case strategies.
  • Prepare pleadings and other documents, such as separation agreements.
  • Appear in court before a judge to orally argue for a client's rights and best interests.
  • Represent family law clients in mediation, hearings, and court. First chair trials.
  • Building relationships with clients based on trust.
  • Negotiate and settle cases.
  • Consult with potential clients.
  • Business development.
  • Meet Billable Hour requirements.
