About The Position

Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A. is seeking an Associate Attorney for its Commercial Litigation practice group in the Charleston office. The firm has more than 125 attorneys and serves large corporations, small businesses, and governmental entities across transactional and litigation practice areas. The Associate Attorney handles complex business disputes, performs legal research and writing, and participates actively in all phases of litigation. Requirements

J.D. from an accredited law school.
Licensed and in good standing to practice law in South Carolina.
2–5 years of experience in commercial litigation.
Strong analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw or Lexis.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

Additional bar admissions.
Experience in state and federal courts.
Background in contract disputes, business torts, shareholder disputes, or construction litigation.
Familiarity with electronic discovery and case management systems.
Judicial clerkship experience.

Responsibilities

Handle commercial litigation matters from inception through trial.
Conduct legal research and analysis.
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs.
Prepare witnesses and take depositions.
Argue motions in court.
Assist with trial preparation and participate in trials and arbitrations.
Develop and maintain client relationships and communicate effectively with clients and opposing counsel.
Manage multiple case files and deadlines simultaneously.
Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys on case strategy.
Participate in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution when applicable.
