About The Position

Licensed Attorneys are responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Firm’s foreclosure and lending client case portfolios from assignment to conclusion. Stern & Eisenberg offers a highly competitive salary structure, flexible scheduling, and a comprehensive benefits package. This is a remote position with occasional travel for hearings. This position is primarily managed from our West Virginia office location. This is an entry-level position. Prior experience with foreclosure, real estate and creditors’ rights, including drafting and reviewing pleadings and appearing in court is preferred but not required. Requirements

  • J.D from an ABA accredited law school
  • West Virginia Bar Admission required
  • Candidate must be willing to waive into WV District Courts (at Firm’s expense) if not already admitted
  • Knowledge of laws related to practice areas, legal codes and court procedures.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills to communicate with other attorneys, staff and clients.
  • Must be able to positively interact and collaborate with clients and employees at all levels.
  • Must be flexible, self-directed, and motivated.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle a large volume of cases
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, such as Outlook and Word
  • Valid Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with foreclosure, real estate and creditors’ rights, including drafting and reviewing pleadings and appearing in court is preferred but not required.
  • Additional admissions in VA or MD (or both) a bonus
  • Federal District Court admissions in Va and MD also a bonus
  • Entry level applicants encouraged, prior experience a plus
  • Eviction and Bankruptcy experience a plus
  • Previous experience with electronic case management systems, CaseAware experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts legal pleadings, notices of hearings, motions, and orders.
  • Researches and analyzes statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, codes, and the like.
  • Updates case management system in a timely manner to ensure data integrity.
  • Travels to court for court appearance and visits client sites, as necessary.
  • Collaborates with management, colleagues and paralegals to ensure high level client service
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Communicates and collaborates with clients, internal staff, and others to ensure effective case management.
  • Identifies legal issues / items which require additional review.
  • Establishes a strong follow-up system to ensure deadlines are met for various pleadings that must be served and filed.
  • Prioritizes and manages a high volume of files with great accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Attends both routine and complex hearings as well as settlement conferences, oral arguments, and other court appearances as necessary.
  • Manages own caseload with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Drafts pleadings and reviews materials prepared by paralegals, making corrections as necessary.
