About The Position

The Athletics department at Cal State Fullerton strives to provide an intercollegiate athletics program that is an integral part of the total educational experience at Cal State Fullerton (CSUF), and fits within the overall mission of the University. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Associate Athletics Director (Administrator II). Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • More than ten years of progressive experience in operations within NCAA athletics, preferably in intercollegiate athletics and/or professional sports.
  • A minimum of three years of leadership experience, with a proven ability to manage teams and drive organizational success.
  • Strong knowledge of data analytics to inform social media strategy, enhance the fan experience, and support effective marketing and brand initiatives.
  • Thorough understanding of NCAA compliance requirements, rules, and regulations, with the ability to ensure adherence to institutional and conference policies.
  • A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment.
  • Valid California driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Advanced administrative experience with an NCAA Division I Athletics program.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Athletics with overall organization and management of the Division I Athletic Program.
  • Oversee, direct, and manage marketing and revenue production (from outside sources) for the University's National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I athletics program.
  • Serve as a member of Athletics' senior management team, responsible for operational planning and monitoring the performance of several sport teams as well as other functional areas.
  • Meet with coaches and staff to further the athletic and academic performance of student-athletes and work with those coaches to set and accomplish goals and objectives within the framework of the broader Athletics and University goals and objectives.
  • Work with the Athletic Director and other senior athletic team members to formulate and implement strategic plans, policies and procedures, making programmatic and budgetary decisions, identifying problems, and providing leadership in developing and attaining department goals and objectives that are consistent with University, NCAA, and conference rules and regulations.
  • Create, update, review, approve, and/or sign department contracts, including events, endorsements, financial aid, personnel, etc.
  • Assist in overseeing Athletic areas including marketing, sports information, ticketing, graphic design, facility rentals, corporate sponsorships, video production, and branding.
  • Participate in weekly meetings of Athletic areas including marketing, sports information, ticketing and serve as Administrator in charge in the absence of the Director of Athletics.
  • Manage marketing and external revenue development, and accountability for producing positive end results while working within the framework of the University mission.
  • Supervise several sport programs and the coaches and staff of those sports to ensure that their goals are set and accomplished in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Athletics program as a whole.
  • Serve as a member of the Athletics senior management team which oversees and has accountability (ultimately in the hands of the Athletic Director) for expenditure of university allocated funds, budget and personnel administration, development and implementation of strategic plans, policies and programs, and overall operation of the Athletics program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
