About The Position

The Assistant Athletics Director is a benefits eligible, full time, year round position at BIS Houston. Working closely with the Athletics Director, the role will support the continued growth and development of a successful Athletics programme, promoting a culture of high performance, inclusion and access to physical activity. The position will play a key role in strengthening the overall Athletics programme and ensuring a high quality experience for all student-athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a positive, inclusive and high performance athletic culture.
  • Support the development of clear pathways from participation and development through to elite competition.
  • Champion student leadership by working alongside the Board of Student-Athletes and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
  • Help create an environment where both participation and high performance are equally valued and celebrated.
  • Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, student welfare and compliance with the school’s policies, procedures and risk assessments.
  • Ensure all aspects of the Athletic programme align with the school’s mission, values and educational priorities.
  • Assist in coordinating multiple sports, seasons and competitive schedules across Middle and High School Athletics in GHAC and TAPPS conferences.
  • Contribute to the smooth and effective delivery of the Elementary Junior Bulldogs programme.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with other schools, leagues, conferences and sporting partners.
  • Contribute positively to the wider life of the school, including whole school events, educational trips and visits, and Nord Anglia collaborations.
  • Home and away game day management, including athletic safety and supervision at Middle and High School athletic events.
  • Support the coordination of coaching staff requirements and certifications, including TAPPS compliance, score reporting, rosters and student-athlete eligibility on TMS.
  • Assist in the payment of entry/league/competitive fees and coach timesheets via Arbiter and Accounts Payable (AP).
  • Manage quotes and purchase orders for equipment, uniforms and staff kit via BSN sports.
  • Assist in coordinating team travel, logistics and transportation schedules.
  • Manage the scheduling of officials and the athletic trainer.
  • Work in collaboration with the Facilities team to ensure athletic areas are maintained and operated to a high standard, including reporting and tracking required repairs and upgrades.
  • Liaise with the Rentals Lead to ensure there are no scheduling conflicts involving athletic facilities and spaces.
  • Assist with communication to students, parents, staff and opponents, as well as Bulldog athletic teams through the school app.
  • Contribute to Athletic marketing, including social media, newsletters and promotional materials highlighting student-athletes and athletic events.
  • Assist with uniform and equipment inventory, including distribution and collection procedures, in liaison with coaching staff.
  • Support the planning and organisation of the end of year Athletic awards celebration, athletic community events and sports trips and events throughout the academic calendar.
