About The Position

The Associate – Asset Based Finance Origination assists Senior Transactors in originating, structuring, and executing debt solutions for Citi Commercial Banking clients. Based in New York, the role supports asset-based deal opportunities through financial and credit analysis, prospecting, client engagement, transaction structuring, and coordination of underwriting, approvals, documentation, and closing. The Associate works with Senior Transactors, underwriting, banker coverage, legal counsel, and other partners to execute transactions on schedule and maintain enduring client relationships.

Requirements

• A minimum of 2–3 years of experience in Asset Based Finance.
• Series 79 and 63 licenses/registrations required.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Strong financial, analytical, and credit skills.
• Experience working with complex capital structures.
• Team player able to facilitate strong partnerships.
• Excellent written and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze capital structures, borrowing bases, credit profiles, market comparables, and industry research for new asset-based deal opportunities.
• Develop targeted prospecting lists and join Senior Transactors in client and prospect meetings to develop and sustain relationships.
• Assist in creating pitch materials, screen opportunities, propose appropriate structures, and work with Underwriting to obtain transaction clearance.
• Draft and negotiate term sheets with clients, interfacing with legal counsel.
• Work with underwriting partners to support internal approvals; negotiate legal documentation and manage an efficient closing process.
• Coordinate transaction execution with banker coverage and other partners to meet deal timelines.
• Apply business and credit judgment and provide balanced assessments when working with internal team members and partners.
• Maintain attention to detail and complete assigned work within established timeframes.
