Summary: The Assistant Vice President of Residential Living shall work under the direction of the Vice President of Residential Living, assist with the administrative, fiscal, and programmatic needs of DDS Residential Programs within Bridgewell, and provide direct supervision and oversight to 6 Residential Directors and their clusters.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in business, Social Work, or related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a leadership role; experience in leading bigger teams of managers will be a plus.
  • Significant experience working with people with developmental disabilities and other life challenges is required.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Strong change management skills and ability to influence others in understanding and implementing work/business plans.
  • Outstanding communication skills (oral and written) and demonstrated commitment to teamwork and employee engagement.
  • Knowledge of DDS regulations and CARF standards.
  • inability to understand numbers and support in Budget Management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Maybe occasionally climb stairs and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle and/or a 12-passenger and handicap-accessible van.
  • Must be able to climb in and out of vehicles.
  • The physical demands of staff working in residential programs assisting people with their care needs are varied and require the employee to be able to maneuver people of varying weights and provide lifting, balance support, and physical intervention in several scenarios.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be able to climb stairs, physically assist persons served, often weighing over 200 pounds with movement, bathroom routines including toileting, assisting with entry and exit of a tub or shower, getting into and out of wheelchairs or handling assists that include physical, behavioral and medical interventions.
  • The employee must have a normal range of eyesight with or without corrective lenses and a normal range of hearing with or without corrective equipment.
  • Requires acceptable CORI results according to Bridgewell policy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision, leadership, training, and mentoring to their direct reports to ensure performance standards are upheld within programs and that all are working following agency requirements, mission, and goals. Develop and implement improvement plans based on best practices, as well as regulatory requirements.
  • Identify internal and external talent for key open positions within the cluster and help direct reports build a strong talent pipeline and succession planning through internal and external recruitment.
  • Build strong teams within their assigned clusters and create an environment that fosters employee engagement through regular recognition, employee appreciation, and people development.
  • Work with their teams on creating an environment that supports Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging based on Bridgewell's DEIB statement and initiatives.
  • Encourage an environment within their assigned clusters that welcomes change through effective communication of strategic plans and business initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with the VP of Residential Living and the finance department in the annual budgeting process for assigned clusters and provide regular oversight in budget management to direct reports.
  • Work collaboratively with their direct reports to manage the personal expenses of persons served within assigned clusters and provide approval for expenditures following policy.
  • Work collaboratively with their direct reports to manage and approve F & E purchases in assigned clusters.
  • Work collaboratively with external vendors to manage operational services provided (for example: Steadycare and Roman Music Therapy).
  • Provide support to their direct reports during DDS quarterlies with all area offices.
  • Work with DDS and the appropriate team on placements and new program development in assigned clusters. Review, comment, and process referrals.
  • Complete administrative tasks in Electronic Health Records associated with referrals, admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Work collaboratively with the VP of Residential Living and Program Support Specialist on the management of internships.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with families, funding sources, community groups, and other service providers. Integrate ideas for service improvement or change recommended by these groups into operations as needed.
  • Serve as On-Call Director on a rotating basis with the Residential Directors.
  • Work with Human Resources and management on employee concerns that arise, determining mentoring/training needs, developmental opportunities, and disciplinary action as needed within assigned clusters.
  • Provide coverage for the VP of Residential Living in their absence.
  • Other duties as assigned.
