About The Position

The Vice President of Senior Living (VP of SL) is responsible for developing and directing operations for all healthcare business units/mission lines within Senior Living as assigned. This role oversees business development, all aspects of operations, quality control including care and service delivery, and budgetary functions. The VP of SL provides leadership and oversight of the Senior Living departments, focusing on overall quality and clinical excellence, program development/occupancy, and financial performance. They are responsible for establishing standardized policies and procedures in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and credentialing standards. The role involves developing strategies to meet goals, establishing and achieving core KPIs, and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The VP of SL manages annual operating budgets, maintains budgeted occupancy, revenues, and operating expenses, and participates in financial and operations meetings. They also ensure compliance with COBRA/HIPAA and other relevant regulations. This position is responsible for hiring, training, developing, supervising, evaluating, and directing performance of director and managerial level positions within Senior Living. They provide analysis to clinical business leaders to enhance staffing, scheduling, hiring, and retention. The VP of SL coordinates operational policy development, serves as a liaison between internal staff, clinical staff, and external providers, and collaborates with finance to interpret financial reports and identify improvement opportunities. In partnership with IT, they ensure EMR and IT strategy align with operational goals. They review facility/agency level contracts for consistency with organizational standards and lead multiple initiatives or major projects. The role includes participating in meetings, developing materials, and preparing reports for Senior Leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration or related field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ management experience in healthcare business operations required.
  • Demonstrated, progressive leadership and management abilities required.
  • Previous successful project management and/or system implementation experience required.
  • Excellent communication, comprehension, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English, as well as the ability to make self-understood.
  • Good working computer skills with basic professional computer software (Microsoft Office suite, Windows, etc.) and the capacity for learning new software systems quickly.
  • Self-directed with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage tasks and assignments concurrently.
  • Ability to successfully lead others in an environment of complexity.
  • Strong motivational skills and a high emotional intelligence quotient (EQ).
  • Frequent travel required, up to 74%.
  • If licensed, must be in good standing in the state in which practicing.
  • Must adhere to all policies, procedures, terms and conditions set forth in the National Church Residences’ Employee Information Guide (EIG), the Code of Conduct, as well as any facility handbook, including but not limited to, corporate compliance, drug free workplace, safe work practices, all federal, state, local regulations and laws.
  • Ensures all care is provided with respect and dignity for the residents/clients, their families and the staff.
  • Reports all complaints made by residents/clients and/or families to the appropriate supervisors, reports all allegations of abuse, misappropriation of funds/resident property and/or any other corporate compliance, drug free workplace, safe work practices, all federal, state and local regulations and laws.
  • Completes all annual education requirements timely, including but not limited to Compliance, Privacy, Security and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the Code of Conduct in the performance of their duties.

Responsibilities

  • Developing strategies to ensure goals and objectives are met to grow and sustain the business models, including establishing core KPIs for business operations and assuring KPI's are successfully achieved.
  • Establishing and maintaining high visibility and good working relationships with internal divisions and key external stakeholders.
  • Implementing and managing annual operating budgets, maintaining budgeted occupancy, revenues, and operating expenses.
  • Maintaining substantial compliance with COBRA/HIPAA and any other applicable regulations, accreditation, licensure, or insurance requirements.
  • Directing/overseeing the hiring, training, developing, supervising, evaluating, and overall performance of director & managerial level positions for Senior Living.
  • Providing qualitative and quantitative analysis to clinical business leaders to enhance their ability to staff, schedule, hire, and retain staff.
  • Coordinating, maintaining, and enforcing standard operational policy developments process.
  • Serving as a liaison between internal staff, clinical staff and/or external providers.
  • Interpreting and analyzing financial reports to educate business and operational managers to identify cost trends and improvement opportunities, manage spending, and accurately forecast budgets and growth.
  • Ensuring that the EMR, IT vision, strategy, and priorities are in accordance with operational goals, best practices, and services.
  • Reviewing all facility/agency level contracts for consistency with organizational standards and recommending approval or modifications.
  • Leading multiple small initiatives or a major project from inception through delivery.
  • Participating in meetings and committees as appropriate, developing materials/presentations and preparing summary reports for Senior Leadership.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
