Assistant Track & Field Coach - Distance at Lincoln High School
About The Position
Lincoln High School Athletics Department is hiring an Assistant Track & Field Coach for distance. The coach supports student-athlete development and helps foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership in a competitive environment. The athletics program aims to prepare students for purposeful engagement in the world and provide meaningful experiences for success. The position assists with directing and coordinating interscholastic athletics at the school and works with the Head Coach on athlete participation during practices and games, including playing time at the respective levels. Required training includes Fundamentals of Coaching or equivalent, Sports First Aid or Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries or equivalent, and Concussion in Sports – What You Need to Know. The role pays $4,916.00 for the 2026–2027 season.
Requirements
- BA/BS in Education is preferred.
- Coaching and teaching experience is desired.
- Complete Fundamentals of Coaching or equivalent one time.
- Complete Sports First Aid or Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries or equivalent, renewed once every two years.
- Complete Concussion in Sports – What You Need to Know, renewed annually.
- Meet physical requirements including hand-eye/mind-eye coordination, physical dexterity, ability to bend, stoop, walk, talk, and sit, and ability to travel between locations.
- Complete a post-offer criminal background check.
Nice To Haves
- High school or college athletic participation preferred.
- Teaching assignment in the building preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist in directing and coordinating interscholastic athletics at the school.
- Work with the Head Coach to determine athlete participation during practices and games, including playing time at the respective levels.
- Promote the athletic program positively within the schools and community.
- Operate within conference and SDHSAA policies.
- Maintain a staff relationship with other coaches.
- Assist with fundraising activities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
