About the position
The Jenni Kayne Technical Design and PD Assistant for Apparel, Shoes, Accessories is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the Technical Designer and cross-functional support to the PD/Production and Design teams. They will handle incoming and outgoing parcels, track samples, communicate with vendors, maintain sketch libraries, organize sample libraries and archives, and assist with fittings. The ideal candidate should have an Associates Degree or higher in Product Development or Tech Design, 1-2 years of related experience, knowledge of garment construction and measurement, proficiency in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and Illustrator, and excellent communication and organizational skills. They should be able to work independently, prioritize workload, and have a positive and collaborative attitude.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and clerical support to Technical Designer
- Provide cross-functional and general administrative & data entry support to PD/Production and Design
- Responsible for all aspects of incoming/outgoing parcels for all cross functional departments
- Follow up with and track all incoming samples and ensure all info on WIP is accurate
- Follow up and assist in communications with vendors/factories on a daily basis
- Use Illustrator to maintain and update any supplemental sketches and upkeep sketch library
- Organize and log multiple sets of SMS, seasonal sample libraries and archives
- Organize, log and upkeep T.O.P archive
- Organize and upkeep trim libraries & inventory in addition to seasonal trim and fabric references as well as office supplies and equipment
- Review and communicate all TOP comments and approvals to vendors
- Help assist checking in samples, accurately spec garments, and prep them for fittings (steam & iron)
- Help and assist in evaluating samples to ensure previous changes have been made
- Assist with cross-functional communication between departments
- Sit in on fittings and take accurate notes
- May occasionally need to do some light sewing
Requirements
- Associates Degree or higher in Product Development, Tech Design, Merchandising
- Able to work independently
- 1-2 years of related experience
- Knowledge of how to measure garments and garment construction
- Working knowledge of technical and production documents such as tech packs, patterns, PO's
- Strong understanding of prototyping, development practices & processes
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Photoshop & Illustrator
- Must have excellent oral & written communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate strategies across all channels and levels
- The ability to organize & prioritize workload to meet deadlines is essential while being flexible and adaptive to changing priorities
- Must be extremely organized, work well under pressure and have positive working attitude
