About The Position

West Coast Convenience, parent company of Loop Neighborhood Market, Poppy Market, and other gas brands, is hiring an Assistant Team Leader to support store operations. The role assists the Team Leader with leading the team, maintaining operational excellence, and delivering a consistent, high-quality customer experience. It is a hands-on leadership position involving coaching, problem-solving, and ensuring daily work meets company standards. The Assistant Team Leader leads the store when the Team Leader is absent. The position involves supporting daily operations, scheduling and timekeeping, cash handling and paperwork, basic equipment troubleshooting, inventory and merchandising, sales promotions, customer service, and compliance with company and regulatory requirements. The role requires flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Physical demands include constant standing, bending, and reaching; frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds; and working in outdoor heat and cold indoor areas such as walk-in freezers. The stated pay range is $17.00–$20.00 per hour. Employee fuel discounts are offered based on tenure: $0.10 per gallon after 6 months to 3 years, $0.30 per gallon after 3 to 5 years, and $0.40 per gallon after 5 or more years, subject to a maximum of 20 gallons and two fill-ups per week. The company may conduct background checks as a condition of employment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
6–9 months of assistant manager or related experience.
Strong math, English communication, and problem-solving skills.
Team-oriented, organized, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Reliable transportation and flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Constant standing, bending, and reaching; moderate manual dexterity; frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds; and comfort working outdoors in hot conditions and indoors in cold spaces such as walk-in freezers.

Nice To Haves

Retail, convenience, food service, or supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Help train and coach team members and provide performance support.
Promote a positive team environment and lead the store when the Team Leader is absent.
Support daily operations and consistent execution of store procedures.
Assist with scheduling, timekeeping, and coverage.
Handle cash, reports, and store paperwork accurately.
Troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
Support ordering, stocking, and merchandising.
Monitor inventory, reduce shrink, and maintain store presentation.
Drive sales through promotions and merchandising standards.
Track performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
Keep the store clean, organized, and welcoming.
Follow company policies and regulatory requirements.
Support food, fuel, and workplace safety standards and maintain a safe environment for employees and customers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
