The Department of Biology and the Environmental Studies Program at Tufts University seek a full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant Teaching Professor beginning September 1, 2027. The position has a primary appointment in Biology and a secondary appointment in Environmental Studies. The teaching load is equivalent to six courses per academic year, with reduced teaching during the first two years. Responsibilities also include advising undergraduate students and participating in shared departmental services. Courses will likely include an introductory biology course covering ecology, physiology, and evolution; a course on global change biology; and additional courses that may include research courses, environmental science methods, advanced seminars, or capstone experiences aligned with the candidate’s expertise. Applicants from all areas of applied ecology are invited, spanning biological scales from organisms to ecosystems and fields such as conservation biology, invasion ecology, wildlife management, urban ecology, and restoration ecology. The programs are particularly interested in candidates committed to experiential learning beyond the classroom. Teaching Professors at Tufts are not required to maintain ongoing research.
