About The Position

The Assistant Teacher provides a safe, nurturing environment that encourages and supports children’s social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. The role assists the classroom teacher in designing and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum in accordance with Creative Beginnings Child Development Center guidelines. The Assistant Teacher builds positive relationships with parents, children, and colleagues and ensures children’s safety and supervision at all times while meeting the physical demands of the position.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Must be at least 18 years old, as required by state childcare regulations.
Excellent communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Childcare experience is recommended.
CPR and First Aid certifications are recommended.

Responsibilities

Assist the teacher in providing and maintaining an environment that supports children’s physical, emotional, social, and mental growth.
Become acquainted with each child, including the child’s needs, family background, and home environment.
Help maintain a positive atmosphere in which children can understand their freedom and limitations.
Serve meals daily as applicable.
Attend programs and staff meetings as required by the Director.
Inform the teacher of situations involving children that may need to be documented.
Help keep the classroom clean and orderly; clean the room and toys and decorate the room to support the curriculum.
Coordinate children’s morning and afternoon arrivals and departures, ensuring parents sign children in and out.
Assist with classroom duties, including making copies and preparing materials; inform the teacher of needed supplies, repairs, and materials in advance.
Attend at least the state-required 15 hours of annual training, additional training requested by the Director, and CPR and First Aid classes when required.
Conduct oneself professionally and keep all matters regarding children confidential.
Ensure children are safe and supervised at all times.
