About The Position

The Assistant Teacher supports early learning programs at the Greater Philadelphia YMCA. The role involves helping plan and implement fun, child-centered, age-appropriate lessons; creating a sensitive and patient environment for children and families; maintaining a healthy environment; and supervising children to ensure their safety. The position is full-time and hourly, with pay of $16.50–$17.00.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Two years (2,500 hours) of verified childcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing dynamic curricula with fun, child-centered, age-appropriate lessons.
• Cultivate a sensitive, patient childcare environment for children and families.
• Maintain a healthy environment through light cleaning and support for children’s personal care routines.
• Supervise children by identifying, seeing, hearing, directing, and assisting them to ensure a safe environment.
• Uphold YMCA, state, and Quality Rating Systems policies and guidelines to support quality childcare.
