About The Position
The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a full-time, hourly Assistant Teacher for its early learning program. The role supports children’s learning and development by helping plan and implement fun, child-centered, age-appropriate lessons and by maintaining a patient, sensitive environment for children and families. The assistant teacher helps maintain a healthy setting, supports children’s personal care routines, and supervises children to ensure their safety. The position includes support from a team and opportunities to learn and grow.
Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Two years (2,500 hours) of verified childcare experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and implementing dynamic curricula with fun, child-centered, and age-appropriate lessons.
- Cultivate a sensitive, patient childcare environment for children and families.
- Maintain a healthy environment through light cleaning and support of children’s personal care routines.
- Supervise children by identifying, seeing, hearing, directing, and assisting them, while ensuring a safe environment.
- Follow YMCA, state, and Quality Rating Systems policies and guidelines to support quality childcare.
