About The Position

This role will assist the Superintendent with all onsite activities, including those involving sub-contractors, vendors, and material deliveries for the project to ensure it progresses in a smooth and safe manner while striving to meet the scheduled deadline. The Assistant Superintendent will help coordinate efforts with the Project Superintendent during daily activities but ultimately reports to Regional Vice President.

Requirements

  • A strong, successful background in a commercial construction trade position for a minimum period of 5 years, or a degree in construction management with lesser experience.
  • Must have at least basic computer skills and be capable of using Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong plan reading skills.
  • Some understanding of sequencing work to accomplish the greatest amount of work in the least amount of time.
  • OHSA 30 and Procore Certification.
  • Ability to work well with and guide field personnel.
  • Takes pride in accomplishing personal and company goals and is a team player representing LGE Design Build in a manner that helps promote LGE as a leader in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assure that all site dust control is implemented and that all required safety notices, dust control permits, and frequency waterlogs are posted as required.
  • Share responsibility for sub-contractor access to the project. May open or lock up each project daily.
  • Meet with the General Superintendent regularly for additional training.
  • Assist in coordinating sub-contractor sequencing and activities on the project as to maintain an adequate, safe workplace.
  • Monitor construction quality as it progresses and assure the work performed meets LGE and code enforcement standards.
  • Assist the Superintendent and participate in training regarding city, county, and state inspections.
  • Assist the Superintendent with all off-hour activities.
  • Participate actively in a team environment and contribute to successful completion of team goals.
  • Review plans and specifications to gain knowledge of the job requirements.
  • Assist the Superintendent in the creation of look ahead schedules on a weekly basis for all projects.
  • Take weekly photos to document progress of the project and safety violations. Address violations with the subcontractor immediately and report them to the project’s Superintendent.
  • Chair weekly project coordination meetings onsite with sub-contractors and the Superintendent.
  • Assist in weekly site safety meetings with sub-contractors’ foremen.
  • Assist in keeping all “as built” record drawing sets updated weekly.
  • When required, cover activities not related to the assigned project.
  • Supervise and manage Tenant Improvement work that may come online during construction.
  • Maintain good relations and communications with all involved in the project including the sub-contractors, owners, and jurisdictions having authority.
  • Accept accountability for individual performance.
