Assistant Store Manager - Arlington Plaza, Akron, OH
About The Position
The Assistant Store Manager assists the Store Manager in upholding daily retail store operations and supporting maximum sales and profitability through merchandising execution, expense and inventory management, team training and development, human resources management, and outstanding customer service. The role is responsible for the quality and performance of store staff, compliance with company policies and procedures, operational standards, and progress toward store goals. The standard work week does not exceed 40 hours. A flexible schedule is required, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. The employee must be willing to work in multiple stores in the assigned district and travel by car, plane, or train.
Requirements
- At least one year of retail management experience.
- Solid knowledge of business and excellent command of English to communicate effectively with management, associates, and customers.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including poise, tact, and diplomacy when handling sensitive and confidential situations.
- Ability to think strategically, plan, and organize effectively.
- Ability to maintain professionalism in all situations.
- Proficient analytical ability to gather and summarize data for reports, solve administrative problems, and prioritize work.
- Results-driven, with critical and creative thinking, project management, time management, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and use independent judgment, compassion, and diplomacy.
- Ability to plan, organize, multitask, prioritize efficiently, and respond proactively to changing demands from multiple sources.
- Ability to execute directives with precision and consistency.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Willingness to work in multiple stores in the assigned district.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work extended hours during critical project phases and in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with flexibility.
- Reliable transportation.
- Willingness to travel by car, plane, or train.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the overall quality and performance of retail store staff.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Model effective leadership to gain commitment to store goals and training standards.
- Assist with recruitment, selection, training, and development of store personnel.
- Assist with and provide feedback to the Store Manager on annual performance evaluations for store employees.
- Assist with expense management and develop strategies to help stores perform in accordance with budget.
- Assist the Store Manager in monitoring and identifying loss or inventory inconsistencies to help the store meet shrink goals at or below company plan.
- Monitor and control operational compliance, safety, and business standards.
- Support employee training in suggested selling and merchandising techniques.
- Uphold customer service standards and provide customers with a friendly environment and outstanding service.
- Assist with accurate and regular merchandise inventory counts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
