Assistant Store Manager
About The Position
The Assistant Store Manager at Marshalls supports store performance and operations while fostering an inclusive, supportive environment. The role empowers Associates to create positive customer experiences and keeps work dynamic in a fast-paced, evolving retail setting. The Assistant Store Manager supports sales results, manages expenses, and oversees merchandising, backroom, frontline, cash office, customer service, markdowns, scheduling, shipping, and receiving, with attention to minimizing shrink and damages. The role also recruits, trains, develops, and mentors Associates; communicates and implements action plans and company initiatives; contributes to succession planning; and coordinates loss prevention and operational programs to meet store targets and improve layout and efficiency. The position is located at Marshalls Store 0714 in Columbia, South Carolina. It is bonus- and overtime-eligible, with a starting pay range of $22.70 to $31.20 per hour, approximately $56,576.57 to $77,761.63 annually. Actual starting pay depends on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of retail leadership experience as an Assistant Manager or Store Manager.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and empower a large team.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to influence others and provide effective feedback and mentorship.
- Proficiency in store operations, customer service, merchandising, people management, health and safety, and loss prevention.
- Strong follow-through skills to implement tasks and initiatives successfully.
Responsibilities
- Support store sales results and manage expenses.
- Oversee store operations, including merchandising, backroom, frontline, cash office, customer service, markdowns, scheduling, shipping, and receiving.
- Focus on minimizing shrink and damages.
- Attract, recruit, train, develop, and mentor Associates, fostering a supportive and engaging environment.
- Communicate and implement action plans for projects, targets, company initiatives, and store changes.
- Provide input on succession planning to meet future needs.
- Implement strategies to meet sales, expense, and customer service targets.
- Coordinate loss prevention and operational programs.
- Improve store layout and efficiency.
