About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager supports the daily operations of one or more self-storage locations under the guidance of the District Manager and Store Manager. The role helps ensure high cleanliness standards and operational excellence while building customer relationships through in-person and phone interactions, presenting a structured sales process, and managing customer accounts. The role works across multiple stores in the district. The listed location is closed on Sundays; the office closes at 6 p.m., and standard operating hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The position pays $18.00–$20.00 per hour to start.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of customer-facing work experience.
• A current valid driver's license and access to a reliable personal vehicle for daily bank deposits and travel to other sites as needed, except in New York City and Brooklyn.
• High school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

• Sales experience is preferred.
• College education is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong customer relationships by identifying storage needs and providing tailored solutions.
• Maximize sales objectives through unit rentals, unit insurance, and moving supplies.
• Maintain cleanliness through ongoing site maintenance, including sweeping, mopping, and grounds maintenance, covering the office, storage building interiors and exteriors, and surrounding areas.
• Perform daily site safety inspections, including lock checks.
• Address and resolve customer concerns related to billing, security, auctions, and proper site usage.
• Handle cash transactions, balance receipts, follow up on delinquent payments, process customer payments, and complete daily bank deposits.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with Extra Space employees.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
