About The Position
The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in running daily store operations, driving sales and profitability, and delivering exceptional client experiences in a fast-paced retail environment. The role leads, coaches, recruits, and develops a diverse and inclusive team, fostering learning, accountability, and strong performance. The Assistant Store Manager resolves client concerns, promotes loyalty and personalized service, maintains Sephora’s store and brand standards, and optimizes inventory and staffing resources. The position is on-site at the Long Beach, California store and requires availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements
- Demonstrated success as a retail assistant manager in fast-paced, high-volume environments, driving results and elevating team performance through hands-on leadership.
- Strong leadership and business acumen, including the ability to recruit, inspire, and develop talent.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust and deliver constructive feedback.
- Commitment to coaching and development through tailored mentorship, real-time coaching, and actionable feedback.
- Experience creating personalized client experiences that build loyalty while balancing operational priorities and business growth.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, bend and stretch to stock shelves, and stand and walk the sales floor for an entire shift.
- Ability to work in a fragrance-filled environment and handle and apply products to clients, with or without accommodation.

- Attract, hire, and onboard talent to build a diverse and inclusive team.
- Deliver ongoing learning, real-time coaching, actionable feedback, and support to maximize associates’ potential.
- Conduct performance appraisals and provide mentorship and feedback to support team members’ development and engagement.
- Deliver outstanding client service, resolve concerns, and drive engagement through loyalty programs and personalized experiences.
- Maintain a visually inspiring and immaculate store environment and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and brand guidelines.
- Optimize inventory and staffing resources and adapt to changing priorities and opportunities.
