About The Position

The Assistant Store Team Leader supports the operational management of a Pet Supplies Plus store and helps create an engaging, positive neighborhood shopping experience. The role works alongside the Store Team Leader to improve sales, neighbor engagement, and productivity while providing knowledgeable, trustworthy, pet-focused service. It also supports store operations, team engagement and development, staffing, and community partnerships.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience leading a retail team.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; high school diploma or GED required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Good communication skills.
Ability to operate store equipment, including a forklift.
Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work flexible schedules.
Reliable transportation.
Must pass a drug test and be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

Lead by example and provide exceptional, neighborly service to customers and their pets.
Analyze store sales results and develop plans with the Store Team Leader to maximize sales, neighbor engagement, and productivity.
Create a fun, positive environment for team members and customers, and promote knowledgeable, trustworthy, pet-focused service.
Assist with operational management of the store.
Follow operational policies and procedures for cleanliness, animal care, safety, and security.
Promote team member engagement and morale by understanding individual needs, recognizing successful performance, and supporting career goals.
Help maintain a fully staffed team and support recruiting and onboarding.
Support team learning and development through onboarding, coaching, and feedback.
Connect with community organizations to develop event and marketing partnerships.
