About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager supports store operations, customer service, and team development. The role assists with daily store activities, helps maintain merchandise and store presentation, performs opening and closing procedures as needed, and processes corporate directives. The Assistant Store Manager also assists the Store Manager with supervising, training, and developing Store Associates; supporting ordering, record keeping, loss prevention, and asset protection; and maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and respectful store environment. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height.
Ability to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor as needed, and maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other store-related communications.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping—including payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits, and receipts—and loss prevention.
Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom according to company standards.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow safety guidelines and company policies and procedures, and ensure store associates do the same.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment and professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
