About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager at TJ Maxx supports store performance and operations while fostering an inclusive, supportive environment. The role empowers Associates to deliver positive customer experiences and oversees a range of store functions, including merchandising, backroom, frontline, cash office, customer service, markdowns, scheduling, shipping, and receiving. The position focuses on sales and expense results, minimizing shrink and damages, developing talent, and implementing company initiatives and operational improvements.

Requirements

At least 2 years of retail leadership experience as an Assistant Manager or Store Manager.
Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and empower a large team.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to influence others and provide effective feedback and mentorship.
Proficiency in store operations, customer service, merchandising, people management, health and safety, and loss prevention.
Strong follow-through skills to implement tasks and initiatives successfully.

Responsibilities

Support store sales results, manage expenses, and oversee key store operations.
Oversee merchandising, backroom, frontline, cash office, customer service, markdowns, scheduling, shipping, and receiving.
Focus on minimizing shrink and damages.
Attract, recruit, train, and develop Associates.
Mentor and serve as a role model, fostering a supportive environment for Associates and customers.
Communicate and implement action plans for projects, targets, company initiatives, and store changes.
Provide input on succession planning to meet future needs.
Implement strategies to meet sales, expense, and customer service targets.
Coordinate loss prevention and operational programs.
Improve store layout and efficiency.
