About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager supports daily operations at one or more self-storage locations under the guidance of the District Manager and Store Manager. The role helps maintain high facility-cleanliness standards and operational excellence while building customer relationships through in-person and phone interactions, presenting a structured sales process, and managing customer accounts. The position works between multiple stores in the district. The listed location is closed on Sundays.

The work includes customer service and sales, site maintenance and safety inspections, resolving account concerns, and handling payments and deposits. Duties may take place indoors or outdoors and range from sedentary desk work to physically demanding tasks in seasonal weather conditions.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of customer-facing work experience.
• Current valid driver's license and access to a reliable personal vehicle for daily bank deposits and travel to other sites, except in New York City and Brooklyn.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to perform indoor and outdoor duties in seasonal weather conditions, including standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, sitting, and lifting.
• Ability to regularly lift or move items up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Sales experience preferred.
• College education is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong customer relationships by identifying storage needs and providing tailored solutions.
• Maximize sales objectives through unit rentals, unit insurance, and moving supplies.
• Maintain site cleanliness through ongoing maintenance, including sweeping, mopping, and grounds maintenance across the office, storage buildings, and surrounding areas.
• Perform daily site safety inspections, including lock checks.
• Address and resolve customer concerns related to billing, security, auctions, and proper site usage.
• Handle cash transactions, balance receipts, follow up on delinquent payments, process customer payments, and complete daily bank deposits.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with Extra Space employees to support the company culture.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Travel between district sites as needed.
