About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager is an essential member of the store leadership team, collaborating with the Store Manager to cultivate an environment that supports Boot Barn’s mission, vision, and values. The role helps uphold exceptional customer service, partner development and engagement, merchandising standards, store operations, and store sales goals. The Assistant Store Manager also partners with the Store Manager and District Manager to pursue year-over-year increases and improve processes and productivity.

The position leads and develops store partners, supports selling and customer engagement, and helps manage operational and merchandising performance. It involves adapting to changing business needs, supporting hiring and training, maintaining inventory and visual presentation standards, and collaborating on community outreach and store events. The role may require travel to support local stores, varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, and extended hours when necessary.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree and/or 2 to 4 years of experience in retail store management.
• Experience managing direct reports and leading teams in a selling environment.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Availability to work varied shifts to meet business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Scheduling flexibility and willingness to work extended hours when necessary.
• Ability to travel up to 15% to support local stores, as needed.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, squatting, bending, stooping, and kneeling; occasionally using a ladder or step stool; and lifting, moving, and carrying up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to read, count, and write to complete documentation and reports accurately, and to see, hear, and speak to communicate with partners and customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead partners in fostering a service and selling culture and building long-standing customer relationships.
• Review goals with partners and provide consistent coaching, actionable feedback, and recognition; lead by example on the sales floor during peak business hours.
• Promote continuous learning, assist with partner training plans, improve store performance in operational and merchandising areas, and develop team members toward their career goals.
• Collaborate with the Store Manager to adapt to changing business needs and procedures, adjust store schedules, implement operational directives, support interviewing and hiring, train operational staff on new policies and procedures, and communicate with District, Region, and Store Support Center partners as needed.
• Assess and communicate localized customer needs to the Store Manager.
• Collaborate with the Store Manager to plan and execute volume-driving events involving outreach to the local community or market.
• Lead and coach associates in customer engagement through B Rewarded Loyalty Programs and maintain accountability for individual and team goals.
• Ensure merchandise stock levels, adjacencies, presentations, signing, and assortments meet customer needs and comply with Company visual presentation guidelines.
• Ensure markdown compliance and execution and process product receipts accurately and promptly.
• Partner with the Store Manager on inventory shrink plans and drive the strategy with the store team.
• Maintain product knowledge across western boots, work boots, denim, hats, and add-ons, and coach and train partners in these areas.
• Complete opening and closing procedures to company standards and comply with the company’s Time and Attendance policy and procedures.
• Adhere to and enforce applicable local, federal, and state laws, as well as Company policies, procedures, and practices.
• Apply business acumen and understand all aspects of store operations.
• Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, strong communication, quality work, reliable attendance, and appropriate appearance with customers, team members, corporate partners, and vendors.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the District Manager or Store Support Center partners.
