About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager supports the overall success and profitability of a J.Jill store by building customer relationships, inspiring and developing the team, and helping deliver a meaningful customer experience. The role supports the Store Manager in store operations and takes ownership of assigned responsibilities, approaching challenges proactively and with a solution-oriented mindset. The position also contributes to community engagement and represents J.Jill’s inclusive culture and values.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in a leadership role.
• Ability to support and develop high-performing teams.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to build lasting relationships.
• Experience analyzing business trends and executing action plans.
• Passion for fashion, styling, and merchandising.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to manage ambiguity with confidence.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Ability to perform the listed physical duties, including lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds and joint/team lifting.

Nice To Haves

• 2 or more years of Women’s Specialty Retail experience.

Responsibilities

• Act as a role model and develop strong customer relationships through genuine interactions.
• Support community engagement initiatives that strengthen the brand’s presence.
• Assist with hiring, training, and developing a high-performing team.
• Lead by example, coaching and supporting associates and recognizing individual and team achievements.
• Analyze sales trends, set goals, execute strategies, and communicate with the team to meet or exceed targets while ensuring a seamless shopping experience.
• Maintain knowledge of J.Jill products and offer personalized styling recommendations.
• Support daily store operations, manage inventory, lead floor sets, and uphold visual merchandising standards.
• Support the Store Manager in overall store success and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
• Adapt communication to different organizational levels and audiences.
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
