About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager supports the daily operations of one or more self-storage locations under the guidance of the District Manager and Store Manager. The role helps ensure the facility meets high cleanliness standards and delivers operational excellence. Assistant Store Managers build customer relationships through in-person and phone interactions, present a structured sales process, and manage customer accounts.

The office closes at 6 p.m., and this location is closed on Sundays. Starting pay is $16.00 per hour. The role combines customer service, sales, facility upkeep, safety inspections, account management, and cash-handling duties.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of customer-facing work experience.
• A current valid driver’s license and access to a reliable personal vehicle for daily bank deposits and travel to other sites as needed, except in New York City and Brooklyn.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to perform indoor and outdoor duties, including standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, sitting, and lifting or moving items up to 35 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Ability to perform duties with varying physical demands and exposure to seasonal weather conditions.

• Sales experience preferred.
• College education is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong customer relationships by identifying storage needs and providing tailored solutions.
• Maximize sales objectives through unit rentals, unit insurance, and moving supplies.
• Maintain cleanliness through ongoing site upkeep, including sweeping, mopping, and grounds maintenance in the office, storage buildings, and surrounding areas.
• Perform daily site safety inspections, including lock checks.
• Address and resolve customer concerns related to billing, security, auctions, and proper site usage.
• Handle cash transactions, balance receipts, follow up on delinquent payments, process customer payments, and complete daily bank deposits.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with Extra Space employees to support the company culture.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
