About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager supports the cafe’s overall performance, culture, and daily operations in partnership with the Cafe Manager. The role helps develop team members, maintain operational excellence, and foster a workplace centered on hospitality, accountability, and teamwork. The Assistant Store Manager supports scheduling, training, inventory, shift execution, customer service, food safety, and sales initiatives, while serving as a dependable leader in the cafe.

Support onboarding and training, and partner with the Cafe Manager to develop team performance, maintain morale, and support daily operations.
Deliver exceptional hospitality, create a welcoming and inclusive guest environment, resolve customer concerns, and ensure team members know menu offerings, products, and service standards.
Promote and enforce safe work practices; identify and address potential hazards and operational concerns.
Support daily cafe operations, maintaining cleanliness, organization, efficiency, and consistency, as well as food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
Oversee register operations, cash handling, opening and closing procedures, and POS responsibilities.
Support inventory management, product organization, and delivery receiving; keep equipment, prep areas, and workstations clean, stocked, and maintained.
Assist the Cafe Manager with scheduling and staffing adjustments based on business needs, labor management, and operational efficiency.
Assist with sales initiatives, promotions, and operational goals; collaborate with the Cafe Manager to achieve sales goals and identify staffing levels that meet business needs and control labor costs.
Contribute to profitability through efficient store operations and equipment maintenance.
Maintain knowledge of food handling, preparation, and health safety procedures; explain food offerings, including sandwiches, bagels, and toasts.
Restock and organize prep areas, support kitchen cleanliness and efficiency, organize deliveries, and promptly communicate safety concerns to management.
Attend occasional trainings or team meetings outside scheduled shifts.
Lift and carry up to 20 pounds without assistance; move efficiently around the cafe; bend, squat, reach, and perform cleaning and stocking tasks; remain on feet for extended periods; and use a POS system, cash register, or tablet to process orders and payments accurately.
