About The Position

The Temporary Assistant Social Media Editor will help bring House Beautiful's storytelling to life across social platforms and support the growth of an engaged community. The role helps execute the publication's cross-platform social media strategy, create and publish social content, and support editorial initiatives and campaigns. This position is based in Hearst Magazines' New York City office and requires working onsite.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience managing or creating social media content for a publisher, media company, brand, or similar environment.
• Strong editorial judgment and excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Passion for home, design, decorating, and lifestyle content.
• Knowledge of major social platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and emerging channels.
• Experience using social analytics and publishing tools such as TrueAnthem, Parse.ly, Dash Hudson, or similar platforms.
• Highly organized and collaborative, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Creative thinker with curiosity about social trends and audience engagement strategies.

Responsibilities

• Help execute House Beautiful's cross-platform social media strategy to grow audience, engagement, and brand awareness.
• Develop and maintain the social content calendar and support promotional plans tied to editorial initiatives, features, and launches.
• Create, schedule, and publish engaging content across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and emerging social platforms while maintaining brand voice and editorial standards.
• Monitor social media performance and audience engagement, and share insights and recommendations with the editorial team to inform future content decisions.
• Collaborate with editorial, art, commerce, and photo teams to develop social-first storytelling and creative campaigns.
• Stay informed on emerging social media trends, platform updates, and best practices to identify opportunities for audience growth.
• Support day-to-day social publishing workflows, ensuring deadlines are met and content is optimized for each platform.
