About The Position

Take 5 Oil Change is hiring an Assistant Shop Manager to support the Shop Manager with daily operations, team development, and a fast, friendly customer experience. The Assistant Shop Manager serves as Manager on Duty when needed, helping coordinate workflow and keep the shop safe, efficient, and running smoothly. Paid, hands-on training is provided to teach the technical skills and service standards needed for the role; automotive experience is valued but not required.

This is an active, hands-on position in a fast-paced automotive service environment. The role includes completing Certified Technician training, performing Certified and Lead Technician responsibilities, opening and closing the shop, assisting with inventory, and supporting communication, reporting, and operational follow-up. Crew members must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, move safely in and out of a shallow three-foot-deep pit, perform physical activities for extended periods, and work in hot or cold weather when necessary.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of customer service experience in a fast-paced service environment, delivering consistent and exceptional customer service.
• At least 6 months of experience leading, coaching, or mentoring others in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to following and maintaining facility and safety control policies and practices.
• Strong communication skills and comfort providing direction, coaching, and feedback to team members.
• Initiative, accountability, and follow-through on responsibilities.
• Ability to remain calm, organized, and solutions-focused during busy periods.
• Ability to meet applicable age and certification requirements, including Inspector Certification when required.
• Reliable transportation to and from the work location.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely maneuver in and out of a shallow three-foot-deep pit.
• Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, twist, hold, grasp, pull, and turn for extended periods.
• Ability to work in hot or cold weather conditions when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Complete Certified Technician training.
• Serve as Manager on Duty when needed by coordinating workflow and helping the team deliver safe, efficient, high-quality service.
• Model fast, friendly customer service, respond to customer needs, and resolve concerns professionally.
• Ensure services are completed accurately and consistently while reinforcing company procedures, safety requirements, and service standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve shop performance and take on additional leadership responsibilities when the Shop Manager is unavailable.
• Train new team members, provide real-time coaching and feedback, reinforce expectations, and recognize strong performance.
• Perform all Certified Technician and Lead Technician responsibilities.
• Complete opening and closing procedures.
• Assist with daily inventory counts and adjustments.
• Support shop communication, reporting, and operational follow-up.
