About The Position
Take 5 Oil Change is hiring an Assistant Shop Manager to help lead a shop location and provide excellent customer service. Paid training is available, and prior experience is valued but not required. Training covers shop management, oil changes, replacing wiper blades and air filters, filling tires, and other light maintenance services. The role offers opportunities for advancement; more than 90% of Shop Managers started as Crew Members or Assistant Shop Managers. The Assistant Shop Manager processes payments, oversees shop-floor operations, performs opening and closing procedures, supports inventory management, trains employees, and performs oil changes and other auto services. The position also involves maintaining the cleanliness of the shop, office, and bathroom. The advertised compensation range is $15.25–$21.00 per hour; the posting also describes base pay of $15.00–$18.00 per hour with weekly bonuses. Actual base pay may vary based on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Requirements
- Experience is valued but not required; willingness to learn, work hard, and bring a positive attitude is expected.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to maneuver in and out of a shallow, 3-foot-deep pit to safely position under cars.
- Able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, twist, and perform activities involving holding, grasping, pulling, and turning for extended periods.
- Willing to work in hot or cold weather conditions if necessary.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the shop.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service and process payment for services performed.
- Assume the Shop Manager’s responsibility and authority when the Shop Manager is absent.
- Run the floor by ensuring employees are in their assigned positions, vehicle checks are completed, and customers are satisfied before leaving.
- Perform opening and closing procedures.
- Assist with counting and adjusting inventory.
- Train new employees to perform their duties according to Take 5 procedures.
- Drain motor oil, change oil filters, and perform other auto services as necessary.
- Restock inventory and maintain floor inventory levels.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the shop, office, and bathroom.
