About The Position

The Assistant Salon Leader is a working stylist and the Salon Leader’s right hand, helping keep the salon running smoothly, supporting team development, and ensuring guests have a positive experience. The role provides hair services and helps lead salon operations when the Salon Leader is absent.

Compensation is commission from day one under a leadership commission plan, plus tips. If commission is lower, the guaranteed rate is $12.50 per hour. The position is full-time at SmartStyle Hair Salon in Bernalillo, New Mexico, inside Walmart.

Requirements

• Current New Mexico cosmetology or barber license.
• At least 2 years of full-time salon experience.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide haircuts, color, and other services as a working stylist.
• Lead the salon when the Salon Leader is out.
• Open and close the salon, including the point-of-sale system.
• Help train and coach stylists.
• Support the Salon Leader with scheduling, inventory, and salon standards.
