About The Position

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a full-time Assistant Project Civil Engineer to join its Engineering team. The team specializes in energy project site civil design, erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater management design, and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling. The position supports the planning, design, and execution of engineering projects and works with experienced engineers, CAD designers, GIS analysts, environmental scientists, regulatory agencies, municipalities, and clients to develop project solutions. The role is hourly/non-exempt and offers hybrid or distributed (remote) work arrangements. Candidates may be based in the Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Chicago, Jacksonville, or Houston office locations. The engineer supports project components by overseeing technical tasks, schedules, budgets, and deliverables, and is responsible for key design elements on more complex tasks and projects. Work includes stormwater management and erosion control design; analysis of utility crossings; preparation of construction drawings, specifications, contract documents, and regulatory documentation; and support for hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and permitting. The role also includes construction-phase services, stakeholder and client engagement, mentoring junior staff, regional engineering support, CAD standards support, and assisting with project safety planning when applicable. Domestic work-related travel may be required. The position requires a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related engineering field; an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation; and three years of relevant experience, including civil engineering work in site civil design, erosion and sediment control, stormwater management, and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling. Five years of related experience is preferred. A Professional Engineer license in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, Florida, or Texas, or the ability to obtain one through reciprocity, and energy infrastructure project experience are also preferred. The expected pay range is $36.51 to $47.19 per hour, with actual pay varying based on experience, qualifications, location, and other permitted factors. Eligible employees may also receive performance-based bonuses.
