About The Position

The Assistant Program Director supports Burrell College’s Master of Health Science in Anesthesia Program by overseeing clinical education operations, coordinating simulation-based learning, and contributing to curricular quality and student preparation. This role combines administrative oversight, instructional responsibilities, and active collaboration with students, faculty, and clinical partners to ensure high-quality experiential learning and program compliance. This position is Exempt. This position reports to the Program Director/CAO of MHSA Program. The selected candidate will support Burrell College’s organizational health initiatives, focusing on enhancing leadership, promoting clarity of purpose, improving communication, and reinforcing a respectful, purpose-driven culture. This role is key to fostering a healthy, high-performing organization that values integrity, transparency, and collaboration. The program is currently under HLC review.

Requirements

  • Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA): Master's degree or higher from an accredited Anesthesiologist Assistant program; valid professional state license in good standing.
  • OR Physician (DO/MD): Completion of an anesthesiology residency, board-certified or board-eligible in anesthesiology, and current state medical licensure.
  • Minimum of three years clinical experience in anesthesiology or a closely related field.

Responsibilities

  • Support maintenance of affiliation agreements and ensure site compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor student clinical performance and collaborate with the Program Director to address concerns or remediation needs.
  • Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and supporting clinical preceptors.
  • May occasionally conduct site visits and support continuous improvement of clinical education experiences.
  • Develop, oversee, and implement simulation-based learning activities aligned with program learning outcomes.
  • Facilitate high-fidelity simulations, task-trainer sessions, and skills labs.
  • Integrate simulation into didactic and clinical curriculum through collaboration with faculty.
  • Evaluate, with Lab Director, simulation scenarios, educational effectiveness, and student performance.
  • Teach assigned coursework across didactic, simulation, and clinical components of the program.
  • Develop, review, and update course materials, syllabi, assessments, and learning activities.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on academic and clinical performance.
  • Support ongoing curriculum mapping and ensure alignment with ARC-AA standards.
  • Participate in admissions processes, including student interviews and selection.
  • Contribute to program assessment, accreditation documentation, and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including clinical hours, case tracking, and simulation documentation.
  • Support continuous quality improvement and strategic planning.
  • Serve on program and college committees as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
