About The Position

Western Connecticut State University's School of Professional Studies is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor for the Department of Nursing. This position is for the Academic Year 2026-2027. WCSU is committed to diversity and inclusion and is a designated Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI). The School of Professional Studies offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in various fields, with the Nursing department offering B.S., M.S., R.N. to B.S., and doctoral degrees in Nursing Education. The successful candidate will teach across undergraduate, Master's, and Doctoral nursing programs, potentially including didactic and clinical practice. Responsibilities include serving on committees, engaging in professional activity and scholarship, advising and mentoring students, writing grant proposals, curriculum development, assisting with accreditation and NCLEX pass rates, and promoting interdepartmental connections. WCSU emphasizes student-based and project-based learning in small classes, with a standard teaching load of 24 credits per academic year.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing with relevant educational and clinical experience.
  • Experience in teaching with the ability to teach across the curriculum.
  • For Assistant level, an academic Doctorate in Nursing or related field (Ph.D., Ed.D. or DNS) required at the time of tenure review.
  • Current registered professional nurse with CT licensure required at the time of hire.

  • Strong Medical/Surgical and/or Pediatric experience who can teach across the curriculum.

Responsibilities
