About The Position

The Part‑Time Assistant Professor of Nurse Anesthesia is responsible for teaching, mentoring, and evaluating students enrolled in a nurse anesthesia program. This role supports didactic, clinical, and scholarly components of the curriculum while promoting excellence in education, patient safety, professional practice, and evidence‑based anesthesia care. The position is ideal for experienced CRNAs seeking an academic role while maintaining clinical practice.

Requirements

  • Current, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Current certification and licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
  • Master’s degree or doctoral degree in Nurse Anesthesia or a related field (doctoral degree preferred or required depending on program)
  • Minimum of one to three years of current clinical CRNA experience
  • Eligibility for state RN and CRNA licensure in the institution’s location
  • Strong communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree (DNP, DNAP, PhD, or EdD)
  • Prior teaching or precepting experience in nurse anesthesia or graduate nursing education
  • Experience with simulation, online teaching, or curriculum design
  • Scholarly activity or research experience

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high‑quality didactic instruction in nurse anesthesia courses (e.g., physiology, pharmacology, anesthesia principles, advanced practice concepts)
  • Facilitate classroom, hybrid, and/or online learning experiences
  • Participate in simulation‑based education and skills labs
  • Evaluate student performance through exams, assignments, and clinical assessments
  • Support clinical education through site visits, student evaluations, and collaboration with clinical preceptors
  • Ensure alignment between clinical practice experiences and program outcomes
  • Promote safe, ethical, and evidence‑based anesthesia practice
  • Serve as academic advisor or mentor to nurse anesthesia students
  • Provide guidance on professional development, certification readiness, and clinical competence
  • Support students’ scholarly projects or doctoral work as assigned
  • Participate in scholarly activities consistent with part‑time faculty expectations (e.g., presentations, research support, quality improvement projects)
  • Engage in departmental, college, and program meetings as required
  • Contribute to accreditation, curriculum development, and program assessment activities
