The University of San Diego seeks an Assistant Professor in San Diego, CA to teach introductory and upper-division English courses in our undergraduate programs. Teach dynamic study of literature across historical periods, geographical boundaries and diverse political and social contexts. Courses will teach critical reading, thinking, writing and research skills. Offer students the opportunity to explore a wide range of genres including poems, plays, novels, essays, letters, film and new media from a variety of historical contexts inclusive of theoretical and philosophical questions. Perform and publish research related to: indigenous theory, postcolonial theory, feminist and queer theory, American Indian and Indigenous literatures, Arab and Arab American literatures, diasporic, refugee, and prison writings, and Asian American literatures and studies. Support general development at the University and develop creative work. Advise students in the English Department’s major and minor tracks. Contribute to the administrative service of the English Department and University. Participate in conferences and academic gatherings within and outside campus.
