About The Position

The Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics at The University of Alabama is seeking to fill a non-tenured, renewable contract faculty position across all domains relevant to aerospace engineering and engineering mechanics. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for teaching core undergraduate lecture classes and suitable graduate-level courses, integrating new curriculum modules into the Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering (BSAE) program, and contributing to departmental service roles. These service roles include advising design teams and student groups, and supporting ABET continuing-improvement processes and documentation. A limited portion of the candidate's time may be dedicated to scholarship and research, such as supervising student culminating experiences, participating in thesis and dissertation committees, and attending relevant national conferences.

Requirements

• PhD in aerospace engineering, engineering mechanics, or a closely related field from an accredited institution by the date of appointment.

• Demonstrated high level of performance in teaching introductory freshman engineering courses, sophomore-level engineering mechanics courses, core/traditional junior- and senior- level aerospace engineering courses, and several senior/grad-level electives in aerospace engineering, engineering mechanics, and applied mathematics.

• Experiences and leadership roles in curriculum development and/or continual improvement processes.

Responsibilities

• Teaching core undergraduate lecture classes and suitable graduate-level courses.
• Integrating new curriculum modules in the Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering (BSAE) program.

• Supporting ABET continuing-improvement processes and documentation.
• Allocating a small percentage of time to scholarship and research activities related to supervising student culminating experiences, participating in thesis and dissertation committees, and attending national conferences in the relevant education and engineering fields.
