About The Position

The Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics at The University of Alabama invites applications for a non-tenured, renewable contract faculty position across all domains relevant to aerospace engineering and engineering mechanics. Primary duties of the successful candidate will include teaching core undergraduate lecture classes and suitable graduate-level courses, integrating new curriculum modules in the Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering (BSAE) program, and assisting in departmental service roles such as advising design teams and student groups, and supporting ABET continuing- improvement processes and documentation. A small percentage of time can be allocated to scholarship and research activities related to supervising student culminating experiences, participating in thesis and dissertation committees, and attending national conferences in the relevant education and engineering fields.

Requirements

  • PhD in aerospace engineering, engineering mechanics, or a closely related field from an accredited institution by the date of appointment.

  • Demonstrated high level of performance in the classroom or laboratory in a wide variety of courses including introductory freshman engineering, sophomore-level engineering mechanics, core/traditional junior- and senior- level aerospace engineering, and senior/grad-level electives in aerospace engineering, engineering mechanics, and applied mathematics.
  • Actively engaging with students and student activities.
  • Demonstrated experiences and leadership roles in curriculum development and/or continual improvement processes.
  • Collegially participating with faculty and professional staff.
