The Assistant Professor - 9 MONTH includes teaching primarily in the area of public relations in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and weekend formats. Faculty will be expected to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and the community, teach courses as assigned, have an active research/creative work agenda, and participate in university and community service. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Requirements

Terminal degree (PhD, EDD, JD, MFA) in public relations or a related field
ABD or AB thesis considered
Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment

Nice To Haves

College teaching experience in public relations and/or related field
Industry experience (public relations and/or related field)
Student supervisory experience
Research/creative activity related to the discipline and consistent with departmental focus and needs
Experience with industry-standard software and equipment
APR accreditation and PRSA membership

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats
Serve as faculty advisor for student organizations
Advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students
Have an active research agenda
Participate in university and community service
Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and the community
Collaborate to strengthen public relations program
Teach core mass communication courses
Other duties as assigned
