About The Position

The Department of Public Health is seeking to hire a full-time Assistant Professor. This role involves teaching, managing accreditation, conducting research, advising students, and participating in service activities for both MPH and DrPH programs. The ideal candidate will have expertise in public health education, health behavior and community health, and qualitative research methods.

Requirements

  • Earned PhD, DrPH, MD, or equivalent terminal degree in public health or a closely related field.
  • Ability to teach at the graduate and doctoral levels.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CEPH accreditation processes and reporting.
  • Experience developing or teaching courses in health behavior and community health.
  • Experience with governmental grants, Joint Commission reporting, or related compliance activities.
  • Record of scholarly publications, grant activity, or applied public health leadership.
  • Proficiency with Stata and other statistical software packages.

Responsibilities

  • Teach MPH courses primarily in health behavior and community health, and potentially biostatistics and/or epidemiology based on departmental needs.
  • Teach DrPH courses in qualitative research methods, data sources, and statistical software.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and continuous program improvement.
  • Manage and support activities related to Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accreditation, including coordinating documentation, reporting, annual assessment, and self-study preparation.
  • Assist with program operations, scheduling, and departmental initiatives.
  • Conduct and disseminate scholarly research.
  • Pursue external funding opportunities.
  • Participate in departmental, school, and university committees, including the Public Health for All Committee.
  • Contribute to professional and community engagement activities.
  • Advise MPH and DrPH students.
  • Serve as a DrPH dissertation chair and committee member.
  • Mentor doctoral students in applied research and professional development.
  • Support student academic progress and career planning.
  • Advise clinical MPH students (e.g., MD/MPH, DPT/MPH).
  • Assist with MPH applied practice experience and DrPH internship programs.
