About The Position

Bellevue University seeks a dedicated and collaborative Assistant Professor to join its Teacher Education program. This is a full-time, at-will faculty position with primary responsibilities in teaching, student engagement, and service to the program, university, and profession. The standard teaching load for this position is eight (8) courses per academic year, with additional expectations for service and participation in program development and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Teacher Education is required.
  • At least 3-5 years of teaching experience in the education field at the K-12 level.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Effective communication skills, including verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with fellow employees, the University community, and the public in general.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong interest in or experience with first-generation, first-year, and at-risk students is a plus.
  • Experience in curriculum design is desired.
  • A commitment to the development and delivery of online and/or hybrid courses is highly desirable.
  • Doctoral degree in Education (EdD or PhD).
  • Prior teaching experience teaching in a Teacher Education program
  • Experience in areas aligned with program needs (elementary education, special education, ESL, and STEM)
  • Prior field experience coordination
  • Experience with curriculum development, assessment, and/or accreditation processes

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate-level courses consistent with assigned workload (8 courses per academic year).
  • Deliver instruction aligned with approved curriculum, and course objectives.
  • Employ inclusive, evidence-informed, and engaging instructional strategies appropriate for teacher education.
  • Integrate theory, research, policy, and practice across the curriculum.
  • Assess student learning using established assignments, rubrics, and grading standards.
  • Provide timely, constructive, and developmentally appropriate feedback to students.
  • Maintain accurate academic records and meet all grading and reporting deadlines.
  • Teach in online, hybrid, or on-ground formats, as determined by program needs.
  • Participation in program meetings, committees, and curriculum development initiatives.
  • Contribution to program assessment, accreditation-related activities, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Engagement in student advising, mentoring, and support as assigned.
  • Participation in university service activities, including committees, task forces, or faculty governance.
  • Collaboration with colleagues to support program growth, innovation, and mission alignment.
  • Maintain professional competence and knowledge of current trends in teacher education and practice.
  • Uphold Bellevue University policies.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, scholarship, or practice-related activities consistent with the role.
