About The Position

The College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Science Education, commencing Fall 2027. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to both undergraduate and graduate educator preparation through excellent teaching, a robust research and scholarly agenda in science education, and dedicated service to the department, college, university, and the broader profession. This role involves teaching science education courses, mentoring students, participating in program development, and building a productive research profile that includes publications, presentations, and seeking external funding. A commitment to effective science teaching and learning, collaboration with educational partners, and the university's core missions of teaching, research, and service is essential.

Requirements

  • Earned Doctoral degree in Science Education, Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in Science Education, or a closely related field. Advanced ABD will be considered; degree must be conferred by the time of appointment.
  • A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Science Education or a closely related area.
  • Familiarity with educator preparation and certification standards.
  • Evidence of an Emerging Research Record.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years or more of (PK-12) science teaching experience.
  • Membership and active involvement in professional organizations.
  • Demonstrated record of scholarly research and publication in science education.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching, mentoring, supervising, or advising students at the university level.
  • Demonstrated experience with instructional technology and online course development.
  • Ability to contribute to undergraduate and graduate programs within the department.
  • Commitment to student success, collaboration, and service to the department, college, university, and profession.
