About The Position

The University of South Florida (USF), an AAU member institution, Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders invites applications for a nine-month Assistant Professor position in Speech-Language Pathology. We especially encourage applicants who are advanced Assistant Professors or candidates with evidence of strong potential for externally funded research to apply. Successful applicants will demonstrate a clear and promising research agenda, evidence of research productivity commensurate with career stage, strong teaching skills, and a commitment to mentoring students and trainees. Responsibilities of the position include scholarship, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level, student mentoring, and service to the department, college, university, community, and profession. Candidates should be prepared to contribute to the research mission of an AAU institution through high-quality scholarship, pursuit of external funding, and collaboration across disciplines. We are especially interested in the following research areas in speech-language pathology: early intervention, development and disorders in children with speech (e.g., childhood apraxia of speech, articulation/phonological disorders) or language disorders (e.g., multilingualism and disparities in child language and literacy, children with hearing loss and/or cochlear implants, school-age language and literacy), developmental differences (e.g., autism, or other disorders, educational support for children with speech/language/hearing differences), or specialized interventions for children (e.g., AAC, MMST), child feeding and swallowing. However, all areas of research related to childhood will be considered. The anticipated start date is August 7, 2027.

Requirements

Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related discipline from an accredited institution at time of hire.
Demonstrated record of excellent or potential for excellence in academic research, teaching, and service, commensurate with experience.
Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.
